Job post summary Date posted: 7 October 2025 Pay: £12.51 per hour Job Description: Library Clerk (Health Records Department) Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust Torbay Hospital, TQ2 7AA Must be available to work on a 4-week rolling rota: Monday – Friday – Full time hours available but any hours will be considered between 07.00 – 22.00 Band 2 - £12.51 per hour NHS Professionals are looking for a Library Clerk to join the busy Health Records Department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. You’ll be part of a large, friendly team dedicated to maintaining the accuracy, security and accessibility of patient case notes that support the smooth running of hospital services. You will also be responsible for transporting patients Health Records around the Hospital grounds, delivering to all areas of the Hospital in the Trusts vehicle so full clean manual driving licence is essential. This is a temporary role, and it is currently ongoing. Main Duties of the Job As a Library Clerk, you will: * Deliver and collect high volumes of patient records across the hospital according to the delivery schedule * Retrieve, file and track case notes accurately within the Health Records Library * Maintain confidentiality and follow data protection procedures at all times * Handle repetitive heavy lifting of boxes and bags of records * Respond to telephone requests, ensuring an efficient and timely service * Locate and correct misfiled records to ensure data accuracy This is a physically active role that involves frequent movement between departments, both indoors and outdoors. Key Responsibilities Essential: * Good general education and basic computer skills * Full UK manual driving licence (must be willing to undertake a driving assessment) * Physically fit and able to lift and carry patient records in boxes and bags * Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines * Flexible approach to duties and working hours * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Professional and confidential approach to handling patient information Desirable: * Experience working with patient administration systems (PAS) or in a healthcare records environment * Previous experience in delivery, logistics or data entry roles Who are NHS Professionals?
