Job Description

Our client designs, supplies, and commissions intelligent, fully addressable automated lighting control systems for a wide range of private and public sector construction projects. The company delivers solutions for environments such as airports, commercial buildings, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, leisure centres, emergency services buildings, retail units, and sports venues. All system components are backed by a 5-year defects warranty and can be configured to meet diverse lighting specifications and budgets. As an industry leader, they are committed to cost-effective, energy-efficient lighting control solutions that reduce long-term running costs and carbon footprint while supporting higher energy efficiency ratings for developments. Role Description: The Lighting Controls Commissioning Engineer role is a full-time hybrid position based in the North West, with some flexibility for working from home. In this role, the Commissioning Engineer will plan, install, configure, and commission intelligent automated lighting control systems on customer sites, ensuring they meet design specifications, safety standards, and performance requirements. Day-to-day tasks include performing electrical tests, verifying system functionality, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and documenting commissioning results in line with company procedures. The role involves collaborating with project managers, contractors, and end users, providing technical guidance, and offering on-site and remote support as needed. The Lighting Controls Commissioning Engineer will also contribute to system handover, user training, and ongoing improvements to commissioning processes and best practices. Qualifications • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Electrical Engineering and Testing, with the ability to work safely and in compliance with relevant UK standards and regulations. • Proficiency in Electrical Testing and Commissioning Engineers responsibilities, including installing, configuring, and validating automated lighting control systems. • Solid Troubleshooting skills for identifying, analyzing, and resolving hardware, wiring, and system configuration issues in the field. • Experience working on building services, lighting control, or related electrical systems within commercial or public sector projects is beneficial. • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, degree), and valid industry certifications where applicable. • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications, with strong attention to detail and documentation skills. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to collaborate with site teams and provide clear guidance to clients and end users. • Comfort working in a hybrid pattern across sites and from home, with flexibility for travel to different project locations as required.
