The Role:
My client are seeking a talented Lighting Designer to help deliver bespoke lighting solutions for luxury residential and hospitality projects. You’ll work closely with clients, architects, interior designers, and project teams to create high-quality lighting designs - from concept through to completion on site.
Responsibilities:

Design detailed lighting layouts for construction using AutoCAD
*
Develop lighting specifications and control schedules to meet project requirements
*
Create compelling design presentations and reports, including concept imagery, sketches, and renders
*
Coordinate lighting layouts with other design disciplines (architecture, interiors, M&E)
*
Present lighting concepts and design developments to clients and stakeholders
*
Attend and lead design meetings, site visits, and site surveys
*
Conduct on-site lighting mock-ups and tests to validate design intent
*
Liaise with construction teams during installation and respond to technical queries
*
Carry out lighting commissioning post-installation, including occasional out-of-hours visits
*
Stay informed on trends, materials, and technologies in lighting design
*
Promote the highest standards of creative and technical design
*
Maintain awareness of regulations, best practices, and internal product lines
*
Prepare and present project fee proposals confidently
*
Provide feedback on product development to R&D and technical teams
*
Collaborate with internal sales, coordination, and technical departments to ensure smooth project delivery
*
Support CPD seminars, design masterclasses, and other professional development initiatives
Qualifications:
*
Degree or diploma in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline
Experience:
*
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the lighting industry, with a focus on high-end residential or hospitality design
*
Experience in a client-facing role with direct responsibility for project delivery
Key Skills and Attributes:
*
Strong technical knowledge of lighting (e.g., luminaires, drivers, control protocols, CRI/TM-30, CCT, binning)
*
Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM systems a plus
*
DIALux knowledge is beneficial but not essential
*
Comfortable communicating in luxury design environments
*
Skilled at presenting ideas and designs to clients and multidisciplinary teams
*
Commercially aware and confident in fee negotiations
*
Technically curious with a strong ability to retain and apply complex information
*
Exceptionally organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
*
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
