Job Description
Service care solutions are currently working with a well-established local authority based in South Yorkshire who are seeking an experienced Locum Childcare Solicitors to support their busy legal team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with public law childcare experience to step into a rewarding locum position, offering flexible working arrangements, including remote or hybrid options.
This role pays a competitive rate of:
PAYE (Inc.Hol) - £44.48 £48.87 per hour
Umbrella - £50-£55 per hour
Key Responsibilities as a locum childcare solicitor:
Handling a caseload of public law childcare matters
Representing clients in care proceedings, PLO meetings, and court hearings
Drafting legal documents, including threshold documents, care plans, and court applications
Advising social services and attending legal planning meetings
Managing cases independently from start to finishRequirements
Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with current practising certificate
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in childcare law (ideally within a local authority or legal aid setting)
Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation
Confident advocate, ideally with experience of appearing before the Family Court
Ability to manage a busy and sensitive caseload with minimal supervisionBenefits:
