Job Description
Logistics Manager – Airside Construction
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Logistics Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of logistics operations for our airside construction projects. This pivotal role is critical in ensuring the safe, timely, and compliant delivery of materials and personnel within a highly regulated airport environment.
The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in managing logistics within live airside or aviation infrastructure projects and demonstrate a strong understanding of airport operations, safety, and security protocols.
Role Responsibilities
Airside Logistics Operations
* Oversee and manage all logistics activities across landside and airside project zones, ensuring full compliance with airport authority regulations.
* Coordinate the movement and access of vehicles, materials, and personnel in airside restricted areas.
* Ensure the secure and timely delivery of plant, materials, and equipment to designated work zones.
Stakeholder & Permit Coordination
* Act as the primary liaison with airport authorities, operations teams, and security personnel for vehicle permits, staff passes, and escort requirements.
* Manage the application and renewal process for airside passes and permits for all project personnel and subcontractors.
Traffic & Material Flow Management
* Develop and implement detailed airside traffic management plans, ensuring smooth and safe access for all construction vehicles and personnel.
* Control and monitor the storage, distribution, and on-site handling of materials to align with the construction programme and minimise disruption.
Health, Safety & Security Compliance
* Enforce all relevant airside safety protocols, including PPE compliance, emergency procedures, and incident reporting.
* Lead logistics briefings and toolbox talks focused on safe working practices in high-security environments.
Planning & Reporting
* Support both short-term logistics planning and long-range strategy aligned with the master construction schedule.
* Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities, including delivery logs, compliance documents, and access reports.
* Provide regular updates and performance reports to the Project Manager and senior stakeholders.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in logistics management, preferably within the construction or aviation sectors.
* In-depth knowledge of airside operations, airport safety regulations, and security clearance procedures.
* Valid airside driving permit (or the ability to obtain one).
* Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Project) and logistics management tools.
* Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in high-security, fast-paced, and schedule-driven environments.
* CSCS card or equivalent construction safety certification.
* Full, clean UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Experience on major airport infrastructure projects (e.g., terminals, taxiways, aprons).
* Working knowledge of construction programme tools such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.
* Current valid airside driving permit.
Additional Requirements
Due to the nature and location of the project, all successful candidates will be required to:
* Complete a DBS (criminal background) check
* Obtain an airside pass and driving permit
* Undergo additional pre-employment checks as mandated by the airport authority
