MEP Surveyor
Contract - London - 24 months
Role Overview:
I am currently seeking an experienced MEP Surveyor. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct visual inspections of mechanical and electrical systems in the common areas and central plant of social housing blocks. This role does not involve entering individual dwellings or conducting testing, but rather ensuring that systems are functioning as per design and regulatory standards.
The ideal person will have a strong background in MEP systems, with hands-on experience in roles such as Clerk of Works or Commissioning Manager, and be skilled in performing on-site inspections and assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform visual inspections of MEP systems in the common parts and central plant of social housing buildings, ensuring systems are functioning correctly and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Review and assess the installation and condition of mechanical and electrical systems in the central plant areas and communal spaces.
Report any issues, faults, or discrepancies found during inspections, and make recommendations for corrective actions or improvements.
Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution of any identified issues.Ensure all visual inspection findings are documented accurately, maintaining detailed records and progress reports.
Assist in managing the maintenance of district-level services, ensuring these systems remain operational and meet local standards.Provide support in maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to MEP systems.
Ensure that all inspections are conducted in line with project goals, without the need for testing or entering individual dwellings.Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience in MEP systems, particularly in social housing and district-level services.
Trade-level qualification (e.g., City & Guilds or equivalent) in mechanical or electrical engineering, with a practical, hands-on background.
Previous experience in a role such as Clerk of Works or Commissioning Manager, demonstrating experience in MEP services and on-site inspections.
Strong knowledge of social housing standards, building regulations, and industry best practices.
Familiarity with conducting visual inspections of central plant and common areas without entering individual dwellings.
Ability to identify issues with MEP installations and provide accurate, actionable recommendations.
Proficient in MS Office and capable of creating clear reports and documentation.
Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects effectively.Desirable:
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient systems (e.g., BREEAM, WELL).
Experience with district heating systems and local energy services.
Familiarity with MEP visual inspection tools and software for reporting and tracking findings.
Full UK driving license and ability to travel to various sites as needed.
