The opportunity

We're building a small team of up to four Machine Operators across our clients manufacturing operations. These aren't just entry-level positions — we're looking for the operators of the future. People we can develop, train and trust to become real specialists across both areas of the business.

You'll initially work across slitting machines and coating machines on a roughly 50/50 basis, though this may evolve as the team settles in and we understand where individual strengths lie. The key thing is adaptability and a genuine willingness to learn.

The role day to day

Operating large-scale production machinery — slitting and coating — working confidently with minimal supervision once trained. You'll need to bring a steady hand, a sharp eye for quality, and the kind of attitude that takes pride in getting it right.

Flexibility is important. There'll be occasions where overtime is needed at relatively short notice — a day or two's warning — and we need people who can step up when production demands it.

  * Shift pattern: 12-hour shifts — a long week of 48 hours followed by a short week of 32 hours. More time off than a standard working week, and a pattern that genuinely works well for people with families or outside commitments

  * Annual leave: 36 days — significantly above the norm

  * Pension: Above statutory employer contribution

  * Sick pay: Full sick pay after 1 year, increasing on a sliding scale with length of service

Who we're looking for

  * Experience in a factory or production environment — ideally with larger machinery (whisky lines, vats, tannery or similar process manufacturing)

  * Previous semi-skilled machine operation experience

  * Comfortable working independently after training

  * Flexible and willing to cover reasonable overtime at short notice

  * Reliable, practical, quality-focused and a genuine team player

  * Most importantly — someone who wants to grow with the business and become a real operator of the future
