Duration: 3 month contract
Job Purpose
The role of the Gear Cutter is to cut gear teeth to drawing specification. TXM are looking for a skilled individual for machine setting, programming, and operation of gear and spline cutting equipment. It requires an apprentice-trained or time-served gear cutting specialist with specific knowledge of gear manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate should be proficient in:
Setting, programming, and operating gear cutting machinery
Understanding gear nomenclature and measurement techniques
Relevant Machines the Candidate Should Be Familiar With:
TOS gear hobbing machine
Churchill gear hobbing machine
Liebherr gear hobbing machine
Barber Colman spline hobbing machine
Pfauter CNC gear cutter (Siemens 840 control)
Pfauter CNC gear tooth grinder (Siemens 840 control)
Magg gear tooth grinder (CNC, manual, or semi-automatic)
Gear tooth rounding machines
Gear tooth deburring machines
Key Responsibilities & Activities
* Use of a wide range of measuring equipment to check components.
* Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.
* Obtaining relevant information from the relevant sources
* Controlling machines and processes.
* Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.
* Analysing information and finding the best solutions to problems.
* Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.
* Keeping the work environment safe.
* Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work
* Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable
* Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.
* Report any near misses
* Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
* Report any issues or problems with jobs to the line manager.
* Adhere at all times to the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental instructions, and requirements.
* Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.

Person Specification
Background & Experience:
* Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail or automotive industry.
* Be practical mechanically oriented.
* Possess good problem-solving skills.
* Recognised engineering qualification required.
* Self-motivated
