Job Description
We are currently recruiting a Machine Shop Supervisor for our client in BS27
JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure the assigned work is completed in a timely manner, this includes assigning and explaining daily tasks to Machinists, monitoring work progress and compliance with policies and procedures; training and assisting Machinists.
Main Responsibilities
*
Supervise and support machine operators, ensuring efficient use of labour and materials.
*
Plan and coordinate workflow to meet production and customer requirements.
*
Ensure all components and resources are available to meet production targets.
*
Read and interpret CAD drawings, select and operate appropriate machinery (e.g. lathes, pillar drills, CNC).
*
Set up, monitor, and adjust machines for quality and accuracy.
*
Inspect finished products, maintain records, and manage defects.
*
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
*
Train and manage team performance, discipline, and attendance.
*
Uphold safety standards and company procedures.
*
Assist the Workshop Manager as required, including overtime or call-outs.
Skills & Experience
*
Proven experience as a machinist or workshop supervisor.
*
Skilled in manual and CNC machine operation.
*
Ability to read blueprints and use precision tools (callipers, micrometres, verniers).
*
Knowledge of ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics, and copper materials.
*
Strong understanding of machining speeds, feeds, and safety protocols.
*
Good communication, leadership, and planning skills.
*
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
*
Welding and balancing experience advantageousBefore You Apply
