Job Description
Team Leader – Machine Shop – CNC Machining
Whitstable, Kent| £34,000–£37,000 | Permanent | Mon–Thu 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–13:30
Guide the team in a busy CNC machine shop and lead measurable improvements across safety, output, and team capability.
This role sits within a well-established engineering group known for its technical innovation, robust product range, and investment in modern manufacturing practices.
You will co-ordinate the machine shop team’s work to ensure that all parts are manufactured correctly in the most accurate, timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Organise daily workload and ensure it is carried out in line with achieving KPIs
Work with the Production Manager to facilitate the management of cell metrics, such as on time delivery, quality performance, etc.
Initial processing of Health and Safety - Accident and Near Miss reporting and follow up / Risk Assessments and COSHH and Quality issues
Set and run assigned machinery safely
Complete daily performance metrics and communicate results with the team.
Requirements:
Experience working on CNC machining (metal preferred) in a manufacturing or production environment
Team leadership experience, including delegating tasks, managing workload, conducting performance and conflict management, etc.
Ability to read CAD drawings and conduct first off inspections
Knowledge of MRP/ERP production systems
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and quality systems
Understanding of Health & Safety procedures including Risk Assessments and COSHH.
