GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a long-established and reputable manufacturing firm based in the Birmingham area. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for an experienced Machine Tool Engineer to join their Maintenance Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This position offers a starting salary of up to £35,000 per annum, working hours of 10am – 6pm, Monday to Friday. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a secure and progressive environment focused on reliability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Our client operates a busy and growing site with a wide range of heavy industrial plant, equipment, and infrastructure. They are seeking a proactive and technically strong individual to help improve plant reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure maintenance activities are carried out to the highest standards. Machine Tool Engineer Main Responsibilities: * Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plant, equipment, and buildings. * Work proactively on improving plant reliability, supporting planned maintenance schedules, and assisting with the implementation and updating of the CMMS. * Read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings. * Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in a clean, complete, and safe condition in line with company and quality standards. * Provide leadership, training, and guidance to apprentices and operational staff. * Ensure compliance with company safety policies and practices. * Accurately and promptly process all paperwork in accordance with company policy. * Undertake installation, commissioning, and service duties on-site when required. * Monitor part deliveries and ensure quality standards are met. * Work closely with managers, engineers, and fitters across departments as needed. * Carry out fitting and assembly of machine parts to engineering drawings. * Support quality functions to drive out errors, reduce scrap, and improve performance. * Undertake any other duties as required to support the Maintenance Management Team. Machine Tool Engineer required skills and experience: * Self-motivated and a strong team player. * Analytical, logical, and solution-focused. * Strong engineering background with proven experience in heavy plant equipment. * Time-served apprentice with relevant heavy industrial experience. * Level 3 BTEC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (mechanical and electrical). * Proven experience in reducing machine downtime and supporting maintenance system updates (CMMS). * Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
