Salary: £50,000 per annum (increasing to £55,000 after successful probation)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

On-Call Rota: 1-in-4 call-out (very infrequent)

Purpose of the Role
The Engineering Team is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Anaerobic Digestion (AD) food waste machinery, process equipment, site civils, and buildings.
The Group Field Engineer will play a key role in delivering a proactive and preventative maintenance approach to maximise equipment reliability and operational efficiency across multiple sites. The position will involve both hands-on work and technical support, with regular travel to regional sites.
This is a field-based role with responsibility for ensuring engineering excellence and operational continuity through effective maintenance, project work, and site improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Maintenance
Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems across AD facilities.
Conduct fault-finding, testing, and diagnostic work, accurately recording all findings and actions.
Support and develop preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with company standards.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Use diagnostic software (e.g. SCADA, Shire) to identify root causes and deliver corrective actions.
Support the Head of Engineering in project planning, task prioritisation, and improvement initiatives.
Maintain engineering records, parts lists, and documentation through the company’s digital maintenance systems.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure full adherence to company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
lead by example to promote a strong safety culture across all locations.
Carry out risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all maintenance activities.
Immediately report accidents, incidents, or near-misses, and participate in investigations.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability.
Understanding of process plant, pumps, conveyors, digesters, and control systems.
Competence in using maintenance software and data management tools.
Time Management & Flexibility
Ability to plan and manage workloads across multiple sites.
Work independently and adapt to changing operational priorities.
Flexibility to travel to regional sites as required.
Participation in the 1-in-4 on-call rota (call-outs are rare).
Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent discipline
*
Strong experience in multi-site engineering or process environments
*
Excellent understanding of Health & Safety practices and compliance
*
Full UK driving licence
