Futures Recruitment are working with a well known manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Leeds who are looking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to carry out a wide range of repairs, planned maintenance, and general upkeep tasks across a commercial unit.
The ideal candidate will have experience in joinery, basic electrical work, plumbing, and general building maintenance. This is a varied and practical role requiring a flexible, safety-focused individual who can work independently and respond effectively to issues as they arise.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Carry out routine repairs and maintenance across commercial units, offices, and site facilities.
Perform basic joinery tasks including door repairs, shelving, locks, skirting, and fixture installation.
Undertake minor plumbing works such as fixing leaks, unblocking drains, and replacing fittings.
Carry out painting, patching, and general fabric maintenance.
Perform basic electrical work such as replacing sockets, lighting, switches, sensors, and small wiring repairs (within competency).
Support mechanical maintenance including servicing pumps, fans, HVAC filters, motors, and general building systems.
Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks according to schedule.
Respond quickly to maintenance requests, diagnose issues, and carry out corrective actions.
Keep accurate maintenance records and update the CMMS where required.
Ensure building safety systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, exits, etc.) are regularly tested and functional.
Skills & Experience Required
Experience in building maintenance, facilities engineering, or a similar hands-on repair role.
Practical skills in basic joinery, mechanical repairs, and basic electrical maintenance.
Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of building-related issues.
Confident working independently, prioritising tasks, and managing workload.
Good understanding of health & safety in a facilities environment.
