Shift: 2’s and 3’s Days and Nights

Job Role of the Maintenance Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and successful packaging manufacturer in Bedford. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of automated production and packaging machinery, completing planned preventative maintenance and responding efficiently to electrical and mechanical breakdowns.

Non-Negotiable Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer

The Maintenance Engineer must hold a recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.

The Maintenance Engineer must have previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production, packaging, FMCG or automated environment.

The Maintenance Engineer must be comfortable working a 2’s and 3’s days and nights shift pattern.

The Maintenance Engineer must have experience completing planned and reactive maintenance.

Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on production and packaging machinery.

Responding quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns.

Fault finding on motors, sensors, conveyors, bearings, chains, gearboxes and automated machinery.

Identifying recurring faults and supporting continuous improvement projects.

Working closely with production teams to reduce downtime and improve machine reliability.

Completing maintenance records and ensuring all work is carried out safely.

Supporting machinery installations, modifications and improvement projects.

Desirable Requirements for the Maintenance Engineer

Experience working within the packaging, FMCG or manufacturing industry.

Electrical fault-finding experience, including three-phase systems, control panels, inverters and PLC-controlled machinery.

Mechanical experience working with bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes and pneumatic systems.

Experience working with automated production lines, conveyors or packaging equipment.
