Job Description

Our client has a chemical manufacturing plant in the Lancashire area. Due to the current incumbent retiring they are looking for a new permanent Maintenance Manager. Purpose Planned and unplanned maintenance of site assets. Control of CMMS, P&ID’s, Mechanical Integrity, maintenance team, contractors, spares and costs. Interaction with EHS, production, planning, administration and R&D. Develop capital projects from concept to installation, commissioning, hand over and training. Provide operational and process safety support and utility management. Main Responsibilities Ensure compliance with Corporate EHS requirements, legislation, best practice and process safety requirements, participate in Site EHS meetings & EHS incident investigations. Ensure all engineering/maintenance work is documented and carried out with appropriate risk control measures to demonstrate a high standard of EHS concern, e.g. risk assessment, method statement, handover, lockout, permits etc. Control and manage the maintenance department team including motivation, communication, appraisal, training needs, discipline and attendance. Ensure work carried out is fit for purpose. Maintain site assets to minimise production downtime and improve efficiency. Monitor and report PSPI’s, control MOC. Operate a Planned Preventative Maintenance System to ensure all statutory inspections, EHS and production critical asset maintenance systems are in place. Update asset records, spares requirements and P&I Drawings. Control engineering material procurement and costs. Preparation and control of site maintenance budgets. Assist capital budget planning and management by recommending, and assessing potential future capital projects to meet the requirements of the Business objectives Manage installation of projects including obtaining estimates, construction, commissioning and hand over to plant personnel. Ensure projects are implemented to budget and on time. Provide plant management of change documentation including safe operating instructions for the production department where applicable Contract and control work with external engineering and construction providers. Ensuring that all site construction work is in accordance with the Construction, Design and Management regulations Liaise with Local Planning Departments as required, to comply with Planning Regulations Monitor water, energy and utility usage, advise on savings and provide reports as required by stakeholders Liaise with internal stakeholders on all aspects of departmental activities, and external parties to ensure compliance and with regulators to demonstrate compliance. Experience Ideally degree qualified but HND/HNC will be consider, professional experience gained on the job Experience of managing a maintenance department, within chemical industry, ideally at a COMAH site Knowledge of current Health and Safety. Experience of working in hazardous environment on COMAH site will be an advantage. Complete risk assessment documentation as required.
