Maintenance Mechanical Engineer – Leeds (LS9)
Location: Leeds, LS9
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £19.33 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Leeds (LS9). This is a customer-facing role delivering a responsive and high-quality maintenance service within an NHS environment.
You’ll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks, ensuring all work meets statutory, NHS, Trust, and company safety standards. The role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexibly across trades.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out reactive and planned maintenance to a high standard.
*
Ensure compliance with all statutory, NHS, Trust, and company safety procedures.
*
Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
*
Operate and maintain plant rooms, including steam pipe systems.
*
Accept Authorised Person duties as defined within relevant HTMs (subject to experience).
*
Work flexibly across multiple maintenance disciplines.
*
Perform any other duties appropriate to the grade.
Qualifications & Experience
*
Time-served Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
*
Minimum 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience.
*
Healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
*
Cross-trade experience advantageous.
*
Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
*
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
