Maintenance Officer - Building Safety & Water Compliance (Temporary to Permanent)

Salary: Grade 7 - £39,072 to £44,619
We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Officer with strong technical knowledge in building safety and water systems to join a respected housing association on a long-term project. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for someone who enjoys working autonomously, ensuring compliance, and making a real impact across multiple homes.
Key Responsibilities:
. Carry out water safety and bacteria testing, including Legionella monitoring
.Complete desktop risk assessments and on-site physical inspections
. Produce clear, accurate risk assessment reports for contractors
. Manage and monitor ventilation systems, air handling units, and water pumps
. Ensure compliance with L8 ACoP and all relevant health & safety regulations
. Liaise with maintenance teams and contractors to implement corrective actions
Requirements:
Proven experience in water testing and safety
Knowledge of Legionella management, ventilation, and air handling systems
Ability to carry out both desk-based and physical risk assessments
Strong attention to detail and confident report writing skills
L8 ACoP qualification - desirable
Excellent communication and organisational skillsProject Overview:
This is a long-term programme covering multiple residential properties, expected to take around two years to complete. You'll play a key role in ensuring water safety and compliance across the portfolio, with strong potential for a permanent position.
