Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Contract – Initial 6 Months

Morson are currently recruiting a Maintenance Engineer (electrical bias) to join the reliability maintenance engineering team at GKN Aerospace in Burnley. This is an initial 6‑month contract supporting a complex, safety‑critical aerospace manufacturing environment.
The Role
Working as part of a site‑based reliability team, you will support onsite production by delivering both planned preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown support across a range of manufacturing equipment.
You will be expected to work proactively, using structured fault‑finding techniques to resolve issues safely and effectively, while also identifying opportunities to reduce repeat failures and improve overall equipment reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out scheduled preventive maintenance activities
Responding to machine breakdowns and applying safe fault‑finding and repair techniques
Proactively identifying root causes and proposing reliability improvements
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function
Reporting findings in a clear, structured, and professional manner to the customer
Desirable Experience
Experience in some or all of the following would be advantageous:
CNC machines
Automation and control systems
Heat treatment equipment
Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Pressure vessels
Compressors and vacuum pumps
Electrical schematics and drawings
PLC I/O fault diagnostics
Candidate Skills & Requirements
Time‑served apprenticeship in a maintenance engineering discipline
Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings
Electrical or mechanical bias, with a good all‑round skillset
Comfortable working within a regulated manufacturing environment
Additional / Beneficial Qualifications
IPAF certification
FLT licence
