Job Description

Interim Maintenance & Repairs Officer

Location: Guildford 
Rate: £365 per day (Inside IR35) 
Contract: 6 Months 
Start Date: ASAP 
Working Arrangement: 5 days per week on site, with afternoons spent working from home completing survey write-ups and associated administration.

The Role 
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance & Repairs Officer to support the delivery of a high-quality repairs and maintenance service across the council's housing stock. You will be responsible for inspecting properties, diagnosing defects, managing repairs, and overseeing contractors to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities 
·Conduct pre, in-progress, post-work and void property inspections. 
·Diagnose building defects and identify appropriate remedial works. 
·Raise and manage repair orders through to completion. 
·Oversee contractors and monitor quality, performance and costs. 
·Prepare specifications, schedules of work and estimates where required. 
·Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation. 
·Carry out asbestos and property-related safety inspections. 
·Liaise with tenants, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve maintenance issues. 
·Support continuous service improvement and performance targets.

Requirements 
·Strong knowledge of building construction, repairs, maintenance and defect diagnosis. 
·Experience managing responsive repairs and refurbishment works. 
·Experience using Schedule of Rates (SOR) contracts. 
·Knowledge of housing maintenance and contractor management. 
·Ability to prepare specifications and schedules of works. 
·Excellent communication and customer service skills. 
·Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
