 The Role
As an Instrumentation Maintenance Technician, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating a wide range of electrical and instrumentation equipment. Your work will directly contribute to optimising plant performance, reliability, and environmental compliance.
You’ll work across multiple sites, responding to reactive and planned maintenance tasks, and liaising with other teams and suppliers to ensure assets are kept in top condition. You’ll also have the opportunity to enhance automation systems and participate in a 24/7 standby rota.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
Maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment, including:
Motor starters
Variable speed drives
Electrical control circuits (relays, timers, etc.)
Maintain, calibrate, and repair instrumentation such as:
Flow, level, pressure, and temperature sensors
Quality analysis instruments
Radio micro links and outstations
Fault find, repair, and modify PLCs, ladder logic, and SCADA/HMI systems
Support safety initiatives and ensure all activities are completed safely
Train as an Electrical Senior Authorised Person, LV (SAP)
Provide feedback and reports on maintenance activities
 Experience & Skills
Extensive experience in industrial electrical maintenance and instrumentation
Experience with process control instrumentation and 4-20mA control loops
Working knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, HMI, SCADA systems (Rockwell or Mitsubishi preferred)
Competent in reading electrical drawings and interpreting manufacturer documentation
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to locate and address root causes
Able to work independently and as part of a team
 Qualifications
BTEC, HNC, City & Guilds, or equivalent in a relevant subject
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical/Instrumentation
Time-served electrical/instrumentation apprenticeship
C&G 2391 Electrical Inspection & Testing
18th Edition Electrical Regulations
