Job Description

Position: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer Location: Swindon Type of work: Permanent Salary: £50,(Apply online only) We have an exciting opportunity for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to join a highly regulated manufacturing site. This role plays a key part in maintaining, improving, and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all plant and equipment, while supporting continuous improvement and site-wide safety initiatives. Responsibilities of Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician: Reliability and continuous improvement work including installation, relocation, and optimisation of machinery, alongside developing robust maintenance strategies. Fault finding using PLCs, multi-meters, schematics, and visual inspection techniques. Breakdown maintenance, diagnosing issues and repairing or replacing faulty components. Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and routine servicing of equipment. Mechanical maintenance including pumps, solenoid valves, pneumatics, bearings, rollers, gearboxes, motors and related systems. Electrical maintenance including three-phase motors, sensors, proximity switches, relays, safety circuits, control panels and LV systems. Creation and execution of annual and monthly maintenance plans, including TPM, CAPEX projects and safe systems of work. Reviewing and developing maintenance policies and procedures in line with QMS, GMP and health & safety requirements. Responding to equipment failures in line with KPI targets and service level agreements. Managing spares, consumables and maintenance resources in line with production demands. Ensuring all maintenance documentation, records and analysis align with QMS and PPM strategy. Supporting the site safety plan and leading on health & safety initiatives. Delivering monthly toolbox talks and promoting a strong safety culture. Conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA). Identifying continuous improvement opportunities and implementing practical solutions. Ensuring team members are trained, competent and compliant with operational standards. Requirements of Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment, including post-apprenticeship experience. Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repair skills. Experience working within regulated environments (GMP/QMS preferred). Proactive and self-motivated with strong problem-solving capability. Excellent communication skills across all levels. Ability to lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture. Strong focus on health, safety, and continuous improvement. Willingness to develop reporting and leadership skills alongside IT competency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Desirable: Installation and commissioning experience of machinery. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Experience fault finding on PLC systems.
