Job Description

Blair West are supporting a Peterlee-based business with recruitment of a Management Accountant. In this role you will be key to the operational efficiency of the finance team, producing management accounts and financial reporting of the day-to-day duties, while being given a development path to progress in an ambitious group environment. The opportunity: * Production and review of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and supporting commentary. * Journal processing, including payroll and accrual/prepayment entries. * Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register. * Submission of monthly debt reconciliations to the bank. * Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations including Bank, Payroll Control, Sundry Debtors & Creditors, and other ad hoc accounts. * Support to track high-volume customer and supplier claims, ensuring timely resolution. * Perform key supplier reconciliations and report discrepancies. * Provide required financial data to auditors for annual statutory tax computations. * Assist in year-end audit preparation including production of lead schedules and audit sample data. * Prepare data for group-wide annual insurance renewals. * Manage all company insurance claims, coordinating with insurers as required. * Oversee company car management including insurance, MOTs, road tax compliance, and benefit-in-kind calculations for cars. * Support commercial fleet management including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have: * A part-qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or working towards full qualification / QBE. * Minimum 3 years' experience in a finance role with demonstrable progression. * Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP or IFRS. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar). * Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. * Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally and liaise with external stakeholders.
