Managing Quantity Surveyor 📍 Bishopbriggs 💰 £400 - £500 per day outside IR35 ⏰ 40-hour working week Manpower Engineering is delighted to be supporting a leading infrastructure and engineering organisation in the search for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Cadder. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveying professional to take ownership of major contracts, ensuring robust commercial management from award through to final account. The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising profitability, managing risk, strengthening client relationships, and driving commercial performance across a portfolio of projects. The Role Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, the Managing Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial administration and contractual management of projects valued between £5 million and £30 million. The role requires a proactive individual with strong negotiation skills, contract knowledge, and a proven ability to deliver positive commercial outcomes. Key responsibilities will include: Taking full commercial responsibility for contracts from award through to completion. Delivering or exceeding profitability and cash collection targets. Managing change control processes, compensation events, variations, and claims. Ensuring robust cost control and effective cash flow management. Leading subcontract procurement activities and managing supply chain agreements. Administering contractual notifications including Early Warnings and Compensation Events. Managing contract close-out activities and agreement of final accounts. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders. Chairing and attending commercial meetings, risk workshops, cost value comparison reviews, and client account meetings. Providing commercial advice and escalation recommendations to senior management when required. Ensuring compliance with company governance procedures, delegated authorities, and relevant legislation, including the Construction Act. Producing regular commercial reports covering contract performance, risk management, cash forecasting, profitability, and change control status. Supporting business development activities, including PQQ and ITT submissions. Maintaining framework agreements and overseeing effective pricing of call-off contracts. Coaching, mentoring, and developing members of the commercial team. About You The ideal candidate will be an experienced commercial professional with a strong track record of successfully managing complex construction, engineering, or infrastructure contracts. Essential Requirements BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification. Experience managing contracts valued between £5 million and £30 million. Strong knowledge and experience administering various forms of contract. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly developed negotiation and stakeholder management abilities. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Strong commercial awareness with a proactive and analytical approach.Desirable Requirements Formal leadership qualification or training. Experience working within a railway environment. MRICS accreditation. LLM in Construction Law. NEC Accreditation.
