Job Description

My client, a national contractor with a turnover more than £200 million, is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in their offices in Bristol.
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will:
* Take full accountability for the financial and contractual performance of projects within your remit
* Oversee projects’ financial performance in accordance with targets set and the overall business plan commitment.
* Robust commercial management, ensuring all contracts are administered in line with the term and conditions and effective change control process is in place.
* Identify and manage risks and opportunities effectively.
* Deliver a compliant procurement process and selection, in line with our procedures.
* Monitor the progress of works and report on project performance.
* Ensure that detailed cost plans are in place and updated regularly to reflect the status of the project, including any revised programmes.
* Attend weekly project meetings and carry out site visits to ensure deadlines are reached.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial logs, cost plans and project forecasts.
* Undertake monthly reporting, including Monthly Progress Reports (MPR), Cost Value Reconciliation (CRV) and commentaries, in line with requirements.
* Prepare for and attend monthly cost review meetings with customer, identifying variations and remedial actions.
* Ensure that the client and clients’ assurance process, including all legislative, mandatory policies and procedures, are followed:
* Contract terms are understood and administered appropriately and in accordance with the timescales set out within the contract.
* All governance is completed compliantly and on time.
Our client requires a Managing Quantity Surveyor with:
* Extensive recurring success in a Quantity Surveying role, working on multiple and large projects
* Thorough knowledge of monitoring cost performance of projects and contract administration
* Demonstrable experience of managing and developing people and setting challenging targets
* Track record in successfully managing and delivering against deadlines
* Experience in a civil engineering environment
* Thorough knowledge of cost management software and tools
* Understanding of Lean principles (desirable)
* Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related course (or equivalent qualification / relevant experience)
* Hold or working towards a professional membership with a recognised and relevant Professional body i.e. Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) (desirable)
