Job Title: Managing Quantity Surveyor (MEICA / Water) Location: Cambridge (Hybrid Working) Salary: £70,000 to £90,000 + package Managing Quantity Surveyor - Lead a £30m MEICA Business Unit - Cambridge I am partnered with a highly respected main contractor and I'm supporting them with their search for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to spearhead their successful MEICA division based in Cambridge. This is a strategic role for a commercially driven individual looking to make a significant impact within a busy and rapidly growing business. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will be the commercial cornerstone of a £30m per annum business unit, shaping its growth, success and overall profitability. The Opportunity Our client is a major force in the UK's infrastructure sector, with a strong reputation for delivering critical framework projects across the South East. Their dedicated MEICA division is a key part of their success story, and they are now seeking a leader to take it to the next level. The Role This is a multifaceted role that goes beyond traditional surveying. As the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the entire commercial lifecycle of the MEICA business unit. Your key duties will include: Taking full commercial responsibility for the £30m MEICA business unit, driving its financial performance and strategy. Leading on tenders, bids, and early-stage negotiations to secure a profitable pipeline of work within the water utilities sector. Overseeing the commercial management of all live projects, ensuring they are delivered on budget and within contractual terms. Managing and mentoring a small but growing commercial team, fostering a culture of excellence and account Acting as the go-to expert for all NEC contract matters, providing robust advice and mitigating risk across multiple frameworks. Driving financial reporting, cash flow management, and cost control to ensure maximum profitability. What We Are Looking For This role requires a unique blend of financial expertise, contractual knowledge, and leadership potential. The ideal candidate will have: A proven track record as a Senior, Managing, or Principal QS within a main contractor environment. Significant experience in the water/utilities sector and a strong understanding of MEICA works. Expert-level knowledge of NEC contracts is essential. A strong pre-contract background, with demonstrable success in tendering and securing new work. Excellent financial management skills with a commercially-driven mindset. Experience in or a clear aptitude for managing and developing a team. A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline. What's On Offer?
