The Role
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a Manual Machinist to join a long-established engineering business specialising in the manufacture of high-quality machinery and precision components. Working within an established workshop team, the Manual Machinist will be responsible for producing precision parts using a range of manual machinery, ensuring work is completed accurately, safely and to required quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical engineering, problem solving and working as part of a skilled manufacturing team.
Operating manual machinery including lathes, milling machines, drills, presses and an NC band saw to produce precision parts
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to produce components accurately
Carrying out quality checks using calibrated measuring equipment
Making adjustments to ensure work meets required ISO quality standards
Understanding machining techniques and applying them to day-to-day production work
Troubleshooting machinery and supporting basic maintenance to ensure efficient operation
Working independently while contributing effectively within a small workshop team
Maintaining good housekeeping and a clean, safe working environment
Requirements
The successful Manual Machinist will have previous experience operating manual machines to a high standard, with experience using lathes, milling machines or similar workshop machinery highly desirable. The ability to read and understand engineering drawings is highly desirable, along with strong attention to detail and confidence using calibrated measuring equipment. Formal engineering training, such as City & Guilds in Mechanical Craft Engineering, an engineering diploma or similar proof of training would be desirable. You will be self-motivated, practical and able to work accurately with minimal supervision. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Manual Machinist, Conventional Machinist or Toolroom Machinist.
