Manual Machinist – Manufacturing Site Location: Prudhoe Job type: Full-time Salary: Up to £41,000 Are you a skilled manual machinist with hands-on experience operating conventional machine tools, such as centre lathes, manual mills, and pillar drills, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? Are you motivated by problem-solving and delivering great service to internal customers? If so, our client's manufacturing facility in Prudhoe, Northumberland could offer the next step in your career. About the Site Our client's Prudhoe site is a major production hub, manufacturing essential health and hygiene products including toilet tissue and hand towels. The site features: * Two paper machines * Seven converting lines * A recycling plant * An integrated distribution centre Behind their large-scale production capabilities lies a critical team: the Site Infrastructure Team, responsible for ensuring every piece of machinery and infrastructure is running smoothly and efficiently. The Role As part of the Site Infrastructure Team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, modifying, and improving their site’s mechanical components. No two days are the same, your work will range from hands-on machining in our engineering workshop to managing contractors and supporting external audits. Key Responsibilities: * Manufacture and modify mechanical parts using manual machine tools * Manage and coordinate multi-disciplined contractors on-site * Support operations teams by troubleshooting mechanical issues * Collaborate with RST teams to identify recurring faults and implement long-term solutions * Maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service What they’re looking for Essential: * Time-served Manual Machinist / Mechanical Technician * NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification * Strong hands-on experience with manual machine tools (e.g. lathes, mills, drills) * Excellent problem-solving and communication skills * A proactive, customer-focused mindset * Solid understanding of health and safety practices Desirable: * Experience in contractor management * Background in a large-scale or high-speed production environment
