Manual Machinist – Days – £15.58/hour
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £15.58 per hour
Hours: Days shift, with overtime available
We are working with a leading aerospace manufacturer who are looking to add a Manual Machinist to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business that values precision, teamwork, and career development, working with high-performance materials for critical aerospace components.
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality aerospace components in line with customer specifications. You’ll be working to tight tolerances across a variety of exotic materials, including Jethete, Titanium, and Nickel-based alloys.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manual turning to tight tolerances (+/- 0.05mm) on components up to 1m diameter
* Small batch, fixture-based work on aerospace materials
* Setting and operating machines including: turning, vertical milling, radial arm & pillar drills, honing machines, and 4-jaw chuck
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
* Self-inspection of components using verniers, micrometers, and gauges
* Following batch cards and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs)
* Safe use of overhead crane for fixture transportation (training provided)
What we are looking for:
* Previous experience machining aerospace or similarly sensitive/critical components
* Strong knowledge of tooling and wear
* Ability to self-inspect and record results accurately
* Confident interpreting engineering drawings and following procedures
* Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
* Team player with good communication skills
* FLT or crane experience desirable (training can be given)
