Job Title: Manual Vertical Borer Setter/Operator
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £15.00 - £16.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Overtime: Time + 1/3 (weekdays), Time + 1/2 (Sundays)
Benefits: 8% pension (5% employee, 3% employer), £250 Health & Safety bonus every 6 months
Job Overview:
Adept Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of our established engineering client for a skilled Manual Vertical Borer Setter/Operator. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in manual machining or turning who are confident working with medium to heavy workpieces and are looking for a stable, long-term position in a precision engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Set and operate manual vertical boring machines
Interpret and work to customer-issued engineering drawings and specifications
Machine medium to heavy workpieces to a high standard of accuracy
Conduct self-inspection of machined parts using appropriate measuring tools
Maintain a clean, safe working environment and follow company procedures
Work collaboratively within a team and meet production deadlines
Be flexible and willing to work regular overtime as required
Key Requirements:
Proven experience operating manual vertical borers or a strong background in turning
Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings
Skilled in self-inspection and quality assurance
Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently
Positive attitude towards health and safety and continuous improvement
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
Friday: 08:00 - 13:00
30-minute unpaid lunch break Monday-Thursday
Minimum of 11 hours overtime expected per week
