Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire (On-Site)
Type: Contract - Initial 6months with chance to be extended
Salary: £30 - £35 p/h
Are you passionate about driving manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement? We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth. This is an on-site, Contract role of initially 6months but could be extended based on workload.
About the Role As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating and enhancing production methods to improve capacity, reduce costs, boost yield, and maximise uptime. You’ll ensure that both existing and new products are manufactured and tested using the best available tools and techniques. You will also play a key part in setting the technical vision for manufacturing engineering on-site and leading process innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and implement process improvements to deliver better product quality to customers and stronger internal yields
Develop and launch efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes for new products, ensuring projects are on time and within budget
Develop and generate detailed 3D CAD models to support manufacturing processe
Promote Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor (including HOS/5S/7S)
Drive projects to reduce direct and indirect costs within operations
Support root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and cross-functional problem-solving
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
What You’ll Bring
Degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing/ Engineering OR a recognised time-served engineering apprenticeship
Hands-on experience in process or manufacturing engineering, ideally in a high-tech or industrial setting
Experience developing and generating detailed 3D CAD models to support manufacturing processes.
Plan and design manufacturing workflows, equipment layout, and assembly methods within an industrial plant to maximize production efficiency.
Analyze workforce utilization and manufacturing operations to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Determine necessary parts, tools, and materials needed to meet production goals in line with product specifications.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturing methods comply with quality standards.
Strong track record of implementing Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or above), and continuous improvement practices
