Manufacturing Manager
South Cambridge | Hybrid (3 days on site)
Up to £70k
Are you a manufacturing specialist looking to take ownership and accountability?
Do you have experience in electronics manufacturing in regulated environments?
We’re working with an established engineering consultancy that’s investing in its manufacturing capability as part of a wider product development offering. If you like variety and solving different problems rather than doing the same thing on repeat, this is that kind of environment.
The work centres around complex electronic assemblies (PCBAs) and enclosures, taking products from early-stage prototype through to production. You’ll be working closely with clients across different sectors, so no two projects look the same. There’s also flexibility in how this role is shaped - it could suit someone stepping into leadership, an already experienced manager, or even somebody who wants to steer away from management and stay hands-on in the processes.
The day-to-day
Supporting design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) from the outset
Working with internal teams to deliver electronic prototypes
Managing transfer to manufacture (low–mid volume, often RF-led products)
Coordinating suppliers and contract manufacturers in the UK and overseas
Building and developing supply chain capability
Improving manufacturing processes and ways of working
Contributing to bids and new business activity
Leading or supporting a small multidisciplinary teamWhat you'll bring
Solid background in electronics manufacturing (RF is useful but not essential)
Experience across the full product development lifecycle
Good understanding of manufacturing techniques, including SMT
Comfortable working in a client-facing, fast-moving environment
Clear communicator with a practical, problem-solving mindset
A 'fee for service' manufacturing mindset
Experience in regulated sectors (e.g. defence, space, medical) (Desirable)
Exposure to relevant standards (e.g. ESA/ECSS) (Desirable)
