Job Description

Job Title: Marine Electrician Location: Whitby Job Type: Full-time Salary: £17.50p/hour (with progression) We are looking for an experienced and reliable Marine Electrician to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems on steel vessels constructed to MCA (Maritime and Coast guard Agency) and Class standards. The successful candidate will bring a solid background in the marine industry, strong technical ability, and a commitment to ensuring all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and operational. Key Responsibilities: •    Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including wiring, control panels, lighting, and navigation equipment on steel vessels. •    Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams accurately. •    Ensure all electrical work adheres to MCA, Class, and industry safety regulations. •    Perform diagnostic testing and fault-finding to maintain the integrity of electrical systems. •    Install and wire switchboards, distribution panels, and control systems. •    Collaborate with engineers, ship wrights, and other trades to integrate electrical work into the broader shipbuilding process. •    Install and commission components such as motors, generators, inverters, batteries, and shore power systems. •    Strictly follow health and safety procedures, ensuring all work complies with maritime safety standards. •    Maintain accurate records of all work performed and promptly report any issues or concerns to supervisors or project managers. Candidate Requirements: •    Proven experience as a Marine Electrician, ideally within shipbuilding or marine maintenance. •    Solid understanding of MCA and Class regulations for electrical systems. •    Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and technical drawings. •    Hands-on experience with AC/DC systems, generators, battery management, and navigation equipment. •    Strong skills in electrical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis
