MASH Team Manager - Children's First Partnership Hub | Wigan
Wigan Council is seeking an experienced, innovative, and creative MASH Team Manager to lead the Children's First Partnership Hub (CFPH). This is an exciting leadership role for someone with a strong track record in children's social care, safeguarding, and multi-agency working.
You will be responsible for overseeing the Early Help and MASH functions, ensuring timely, child-focused, and evidence-based decisions while promoting strength-based and relationship-focused practice.
About the Role
As the MASH Team Manager, you will provide day-to-day operational leadership, supervising Social Workers, CAROs, and Business Support Officers. You will ensure statutory safeguarding duties are met, guide complex decision-making, and maintain high standards of collaborative practice with partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Children's First Partnership Hub, including Early Help and MASH functions
Oversee triage and screening of referrals, ensuring timely, accurate, and evidence-based decisions
Ensure statutory safeguarding duties are met in line with Wigan Safeguarding Children Partnership thresholds
Lead multi-agency decision-making processes and ensure thresholds are applied consistently
Provide supervision, guidance, and support to staff, promoting reflective practice
Champion strength-based, relationship-focused social work across the team
Maintain high standards of information sharing and collaborative working with partner agencies
Monitor contact records and referrals, ensuring child-focused and safe outcomes
Support quality assurance through audits, learning reviews, and performance management
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social care
Demonstrated experience in child protection, safeguarding, and multi-agency working
Strong leadership, assessment, and decision-making skills
In-depth knowledge of children's services legislation and statutory guidance
Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of making complex information accessible to all audiences
