Job Description

Mech Tech Professionals require a Material Controller for a full-time position based in Pembrokeshire. Our client, a prestigious Mechanical Engineering firm, require a competent Materials Controller/Store Person to join their dynamic team with an aim to start as soon as possible or upon availability. This is a permanent position, working 5 days per week: 08:00 - 16:30 (Monday to Thursday) 08:00 - 14:30 (Friday) Position Overview: As a Material Controller, you will be responsible for handling procurement, managing stores inventory, supporting workshop and yard operations, and ensuring the efficient distribution and usage of tools, equipment, and materials throughout the business. Key Responsibilities: Procurement Duties * Obtain quotes and negotiate with suppliers for the best value on goods and services. * Raise purchase orders and manage the full procurement cycle. * Arrange timely delivery of goods in line with operational schedules. * Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers. * Address discrepancies in deliveries and resolve supply issues promptly. Stores & Inventory Management * Issue equipment, tooling, PPE, and consumables to relevant teams. * Maintain accurate stock levels (including consignment stock and PPE), updating inventory systems regularly. * Receive all deliveries, check for accuracy and quality, and distribute goods receipts to the appropriate departments. * Monitor inventory to minimize wastage and prevent misuse of resources. * Ensure the return of tools and equipment in good condition; quarantine, dispose, or arrange repair for defective items as needed. * Keep the stores area clean, well-organised, and compliant with safety standards. * Manage and track shortages, spares, and back-ordered items. * Assist with overseeing yard assistants and ensuring efficient yard operations. Operational Support * Coordinate with the Yard Supervisor to support project needs with timely distribution of materials and tools. * Manage tooling and lifting containers specific to the Yard and smaller-scale projects. * Provide support to management and workshop teams with forklift and driving duties as required. * Act as a point of contact for stores-related inquiries and assist with general operational logistics. Candidate requirements: * Minimum of 5 Years experience of stores and warehouse operations -Proven experience in procurement, stores coordination, or inventory management in an industrial or construction environment * Full Clean driving licence, Preferably with Class 1 and 2 * Preferably hold a valid Telehandler licence * Preferably Certificated to carry out Pat testing of electrical equipment * Knowledge of tools and lifting equipment would be an advantage * Computer literate with Knowledge of Microsoft office systems * Strong attention to detail, accuracy and punctuality
