Job Title: Maths Teacher (SEN School) Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Flexible) Start Date: ASAP Transport: Must have own vehicle QTS: Not required About the Role: We are looking for a creative, compassionate, and resilient Maths Teacher to join our specialist SEN provision in Northampton, working with secondary-aged pupils (11–16) who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a strong focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). This role is perfect for a confident Maths practitioner who can break down learning barriers and deliver engaging, accessible lessons that meet the individual needs of our students—many of whom have had negative prior experiences with education. Key Responsibilities: Plan, deliver and adapt Maths lessons tailored to pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities Support students in building confidence and functional numeracy skills in line with their EHCP outcomes Create a calm, structured and positive learning environment that promotes emotional regulation and resilience Use practical, real-life examples and multi-sensory approaches to increase engagement Collaborate with SEN and pastoral teams to ensure a joined-up, holistic approach to each learner's progress Track and assess progress regularly, ensuring every student is recognised for their achievements Support the development of individualised learning plans in collaboration with senior leaders and support staff Implement behaviour strategies appropriate to SEMH learners in a therapeutic and consistent manner Essential Requirements: Strong knowledge of KS3/KS4 Maths, with the ability to adapt content creatively Experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour Excellent communication, patience and behaviour management skills A commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed teaching practices Own transport and ability to commute to our Northampton site A strong desire to make a real difference to young people’s lives Desirable (but not essential): Previous experience in a school, PRU, alternative provision, or youth support setting Functional Skills or GCSE Maths teaching experience Understanding of EHCPs and differentiation for SEND Any relevant teaching or training qualifications (e.g. AET, PTLLS, HLTA, DTLLS) What We Offer: A supportive team passionate about inclusive education A chance to be creative and flexible in your teaching style Ongoing free CPD and training in SEN, SEMH, and therapeutic approaches A rewarding opportunity to support pupils who need it most If you are interested in fidning out more, please send over your CV asap, we are looking to interview immediately.
