Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced Maths Tutor to work with children and young people in Wokingham and the surrounding areas.
This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work. The successful tutor will provide personalised Maths tuition to students who may benefit from additional one-to-one support outside of a traditional classroom environment.
The role will involve building positive and trusting relationships with students, identifying areas for development and adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs. You will help students improve their mathematical understanding, confidence and engagement with learning.
We are looking for tutors who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and who can provide a calm, consistent and encouraging approach.
The role may involve
Delivering one-to-one Maths tuition to primary and/or secondary-aged students
Supporting students to develop their mathematical knowledge and understanding
Identifying gaps in learning and planning lessons around individual needs
Adapting teaching approaches to suit different abilities, learning styles and levels of engagement
Supporting students with exam preparation and curriculum-based learning where appropriate
Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students
Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence in their learning
Supporting students who may have additional learning needs or barriers to accessing mainstream education
Encouraging students to re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way
Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
Working collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals where required
Maintaining clear and professional communication
Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential requirements
Experience teaching or tutoring Maths to primary and/or secondary-aged students
Experience working with children or young people in an educational, tutoring or support setting
The ability to plan and deliver engaging, accessible and personalised Maths lessons
The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
The ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people
A genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve their potential
Experience supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs would be desirable
A teaching qualification or QTS would be desirable but is not essential, depending on experience
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
Satisfactory professional references
