Mechanic
£19.47 per hour, with a 50p increase in January 2027
5 days over 7 shifts
Looking for a hands-on mechanical role where your skills keep the community moving?
We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Bus Engineering Technician to join our friendly team at Stagecoach Porth. Whether you’re from a truck, HGV, automotive, plant, or rail background, this is your opportunity to work on a modern and varied fleet, including hybrid and electric vehicles, supported by ongoing training as technology and vehicle systems continue to evolve.
What you’ll be doing:
* Maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses to DVSA and Stagecoach safety standards
* Diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment including laptop
* Completing the full range of mechanical repairs including major unit changes and engine repairs and overhauls,
* Carrying out routine inspections, servicing, and roadside repairs
* Supporting apprentices by sharing your knowledge and experience
* Working safely and efficiently as part of a collaborative depot team
What we’re looking for:
* NVQ Level 3 in HGV or PSV Maintenance, or equivalent (or we will support you to gain your Level 3)
* Hands-on experience working on commercial or specialist vehicles
* Experience and competence in using modern diagnostic equipment
* Electrical/electronic competence at a basic level
* A safety-first attitude and strong attention to detail
* A team player with good communication skills
* Previous experience working on buses or large passenger vehicles (desirable)
