Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking to join a leading engineering manufacturer in Sunbury-on-Thames? Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of hazardous area safety equipment and explosion protection systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of complex systems, primarily pneumatic with some electronic components. The role is working Monday to Friday day shifts with flexibility paying up to £15 per hour. The position requires a high level of precision during assembly, along with the flexibility to work on a variety of systems, sizes, and configurations.
Hours of work:
Monday - Friday - Days (40 hour week)
Flexible start and finish times
7am-8am start
Finish no earlier than 4pm

As a Mechanical Fitter your role will involve:
Build and assemble complete systems and individual sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings and specifications
Install mechanical components into both standard and custom-built enclosures, ensuring a high-quality finish ready for dispatch
Carry out testing and inspections to verify equipment operates correctly and meets required standards
Diagnose and resolve assembly or testing issues using effective fault-finding and problem-solving techniques
Work across a wide range of products and bespoke builds, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail on every project
Working efficiently to meet targets, identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve processes
Support continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas to improve ways of working
Maintain good attendance, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety and quality
Follow company environmental procedures and ensure waste is disposed of and recycled correctlySuitable Candidate:
Experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing or engineering environment
The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and pneumatic schematics
Good practical skills and experience using hand tools safely and effectively
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail
Experience working with electrical or electronic assemblies would be advantageous
Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices, such as 5S, is desirable
The flexibility to work on a variety of standard and bespoke builds, adapting to changing priorities
The physical ability to carry out hands-on assembly work, including standing for long periods and handling larger components (lifting equipment is provided where required)
