Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Estimator to join our established team based in Yateley, Hampshire. This is a fully office-based position, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a wide range of mechanical building services projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HVAC systems and a solid understanding of mechanical services within commercial, industrial, and residential environments.
Key Responsibilities
Tendering & Estimating
*
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical building services projects, with a strong focus on HVAC systems.
*
Analyse tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to develop competitive bids.
*
Produce material schedules, labour costings, and subcontractor enquiries.
*
Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
*
Prepare tender summaries, cost breakdowns, and technical clarifications.
Technical Analysis & Design Review
*
Review mechanical designs, specifications, and engineering details to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
*
Provide technical input to ensure proposed solutions align with mechanical building services best practice and project requirements.
*
Liaise with the internal design team where required to refine scope.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
*
Work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors during the tender process.
*
Attend meetings (in-office or remotely) to clarify tender queries and present proposals.
*
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Project Handover
*
Support the handover process to project delivery teams, ensuring they receive clear documentation and a comprehensive understanding of the tendered solution.
*
Assist with variations, re-costs, and updates as required during project mobilisation.
Required Skills & Experience
*
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services.
*
HVAC experience is essential, including knowledge of heating, ventilation, cooling, and associated mechanical systems.
*
Strong understanding of mechanical services design, installation practices, and industry standards.
*
Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
*
Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.
*
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
*
IT proficiency, including estimating software and Microsoft Office.
