Mechanical Design Engineer Stockport £38,000 – £48,000 (Dependent on Experience) Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm Full-Time | Permanent Are you a technically minded Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for bespoke HVAC and air-handling systems? Join a specialist engineering manufacturer designing and delivering complex HVAC and environmental control systems for customers across the UK and worldwide. The Business: Forward-thinking projects with real innovation Supportive, friendly culture Genuine career development and global project exposure See your designs progress from concept to reality The Role of the Mechanical Design Engineer: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key part in taking projects from concept through to production and installation. Responsibilities include: Designing custom HVAC systems using 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor). Producing P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Performing airflow, psychrometric, and heat load calculations. Selecting and specifying fans, filters, coils, heaters, and control components. Collaborating with project managers, site engineers, and suppliers. Supporting installation and commissioning activities (some UK/international travel). Ensuring all designs meet CE/UKCA compliance and relevant directives. About the Mechanical Design Engineer: The Mechanical Design Engineer will need to be someone who enjoys problem-solving and working in a fast-paced project environment where no two days are the same. Essential Requirements: HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or HVAC Design. Minimum 3 years’ experience within HVAC, air handling, or building services. Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor. Good understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and ventilation systems. Full UK driving licence (company pool van or mileage expenses provided).   Desirable: Experience with HVAC or air-handling projects. Familiarity with ATEX components and CE/UKCA directives. Some understanding of electrical systems (wiring, controls, motor drives).
