Role Overview
They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Glasgow office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in building services design and a strong track record in mechanical systems. You will work on a variety of projects, delivering high-quality mechanical solutions that optimise energy efficiency, occupant comfort and long-term building performance.
This role provides the opportunity to join a highly skilled and collaborative team, contributing to projects including commercial developments, hotels, healthcare facilities and industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver mechanical building services design including HVAC, heating, ventilation and environmental systems
Prepare concept and detailed designs, feasibility studies and options appraisals
Conduct thermal modelling, energy analysis and dynamic simulations to support design decisions
Collaborate with architects, engineers and contractors to ensure designs are practical, efficient and innovative
Contribute to sustainability strategies including low or zero carbon technologies, water management and energy efficiency initiatives
Support project delivery with BIM coordination, 3D CAD drawings and technical documentation
Provide mentoring and guidance to junior staff where applicable
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 4 years’ experience in mechanical building services design
Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, heating and environmental systems
Experience with thermal modelling software, energy simulations and CAD or BIM tools
Proven ability to deliver projects across commercial, residential, healthcare or industrial sectors
Understanding of sustainability principles, BREEAM and energy efficiency standards
Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills
