Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Nursling / Southampton 
Up to £50,000 per annum + benefits

Role Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Tapflo UK, you’ll lead mechanical design and development for bespoke pump systems and process skids. You'll bring technical excellence to the team, support innovation, and ensure solutions meet exacting standards including ATEX, EHEDG, and ISO compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and produce mechanical design for custom pump systems, assemblies, and control panels.
Conduct P&ID reviews, friction-loss calculations, and CPSA-style audits to optimise designs.
Drive R&D for new and existing engineered solutions and pump technologies.
Collaborate with project teams, suppliers, and sales to meet customer requirements.
Provide technical support across the business—including manufacturing and after-sales.
Create technical drawings, Bill of Materials, and full documentation for compliance and delivery.
What You’ll Bring

A degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng or similar).
Proven experience designing industrial or sanitary process systems.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor); experience with P&IDs.
Familiarity with pump technologies and fluid handling (ideal: diaphragm, centrifugal).
Knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g. ATEX, EHEDG, CE/UKCA).
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Full UK driving licence required.
