Job Description
Mechanical Design Engineer needed for well-established UK designer and manufacturer of special-purpose machinery.
The company designs and manufactures a complex, innovative and diverse range of automated equipment which is configured and designed to meet each client specification.
As part of the mechanical design team, you will create and develop mechanical sub-assemblies and larger machines using Autodesk Inventor including detailed component drawings, Bills of Material and user documentation.
The Role:
Reporting to the Group Engineering manager, the role includes:
* Interacting and liaising directly with customers to understand their application and requirements.
* Producing concept designs and cost estimates for project tenders.
* Producing GA’s and sub-assemblies using Autodesk Inventor including detail and assembly drawings for production.
* Creating Bills of Materials and liaising with suppliers.
* Developing existing products to improve or adapt to suit new projects.
* Assist with on-site installations and commissioning.
Skills and experience required:
* Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent technical qualification
* Ideally with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Automation and Mechanical Engineering, preferably using 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks).
* Knowledge of electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems in automation.
* Some knowledge of sheet metal and fabrication design.
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to learn and develop.
* Willing to travel to customer sites when required for surveys, meetings, installations etc.
