Job Description
We’re on the lookout for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and fast-moving engineering business based in Wigan. This is a fantastic opportunity for a contractor who’s happy to jump in for around three months initially, with the potential to go permanent if the role feels like the right long-term fit.
You’ll be working on a diverse range of machinery including palletisers, robots, strappers, wrappers, elevators, lane dividers, and case erectors. If you're passionate about engineering design, want to work on exciting automation projects, and enjoy seeing your ideas come to life on the shop floor — this one's for you.
Job Responsibilities:
* Produce high-quality mechanical design drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD
* Generate and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs)
* Create detailed technical designs for bespoke handling and packaging systems
* Revise and improve designs based on feedback and project requirements
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment from design to build
* Deliver work within tight project deadlines and to high standards
Experience Required:
* Proficient in Inventor and AutoCAD for mechanical design
* Experience designing automated handling equipment such as palletisers, strappers, conveyors, wrappers, and other similar machinery
* Strong mechanical engineering background with a hands-on understanding of industrial automation
* Ideally located within commuting distance of WiganBefore You Apply
