Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration: 6 Months Rolling
Location: Yeovil (On Site)
Rate: Negotiable on experience (Outside IR35)
We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a hands-on contract role developing next-generation IoT-enabled products. You’ll take concepts through to production-ready designs, creating enclosures, fixtures, and assemblies that integrate seamlessly with electronics and firmware systems.
What You’ll Do
* Design and develop mechanical enclosures, fixtures, and assemblies for electronic devices.
* Produce CAD models, BOMs, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
* Apply DFM/DFA principles, support prototyping, and optimize for scalable manufacturing.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust product integration.
* Liaise with suppliers to maintain production quality and readiness.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong knowledge of materials, tolerances, fastening systems, and manufacturing processes.
* Familiarity with PLM systems, version control, and BOM management.
* IoT device or electronics packaging experience is highly desirable.
* Self-motivated and detail-oriented, able to deliver effectively within a contract environmentBefore You Apply
