Job Description
My client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their current Design Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles and be able to create designs that are innovative, robust and cost-effective to manufacture. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing mechanical components, assemblies and systems, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the successful completion of each project.
Responsibilities:
* Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings of mechanical components and assemblies
* Communicate frequently & effectively with other departments & customers
* Analyse designs to ensure the optimal engineering solution is achieved
* Analyse designs to ensure manufacturability, cost & performance
* Develop prototypes and support testing of designs for functionality and reliability
* Research new technologies and materials to improve designs
* Produce supporting documentation, including buyoff proposals, design risk assessments & equipment manuals
Required Experience:
* Previous experience in a special purpose machinery design role (experience with lifting equipment, along with pneumatic and electrical circuits & systems is of benefit)
* Experience working in a 3D CAD environment (SolidWorks preferred)
* Experience using full Microsoft Office suite
* Excellent communication skills both in team settings & customer facing
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Highly driven & self-motivated personality
* Appreciation for the requirements of electrical and pneumatic control systems within the mechanical designBefore You Apply
