White Label is partnered with a long-established UK machinery manufacturer in the North West that is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Draughtsperson to join their growing team.
This is a hands-on design role where you’ll see your work progress from concept to fabrication, adapting proven machinery to bespoke customer requirements. The company manufactures industrial mixing and heavy rotating equipment supplied across a wide range of sectors.
It’s an excellent opportunity for a practical, detail-focused designer who enjoys working on large, complex machinery and wants to see their ideas built and in operation.
My client is offering a competitive salary based on experience and impact, plus:
*
3% employer pension contribution (with scope to increase for the right individual)
*
Contributory healthcare scheme (option for family cover)
*
Flexible start and finish times to ease commuting
*
On-site parking
*
Supportive, collaborative culture
*
Additional benefits such as life assurance and long-term sickness cover may also be considered
Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Draughtsperson
*
Produce high-quality 3D and 2D designs using SolidWorks, with some AutoCAD for supplier and customer interface.
*
Adapt proven machinery designs to suit bespoke client specifications — including jackets, vacuum-rated features, discharge systems and spray bars.
*
Generate accurate manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BoMs).
*
Collaborate closely with Production, Sales, and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.
*
Provide engineering support during build, test, and handover phases.
Experience Required of the Mechanical Design Draughtsperson
*
Proven background in heavy mechanical design, ideally within rotating machinery, mixers, or large fabricated assemblies.
*
HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering – apprenticeship and degree backgrounds equally valued.
*
Proficient in SolidWorks; AutoCAD experience advantageous.
*
Capable of tailoring existing designs to bespoke client requirements.
*
Confident working closely with production and shop-floor teams.
*
Experience with medium-to-heavy fabrications (6–8 tonne) and knowledge of pressure or vacuum vessel integration desirable.
*
Understanding of hygienic or food/pharma-grade finishes would be beneficial.
