Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Building Services Engineer Location: Greater London & South East Start Date: End of August 2025 Company Van Provided Holiday: 20 days per annum, rising by 1 day each year of service, up to 24 days. Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Building Services Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an M&E Engineer at Reader Air, you will be responsible for delivering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and industrial properties across Greater London & the South East. These services will include planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and small project works. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a growing company and contribute to a wide variety of technically challenging projects. Key Responsibilities: * Perform planned and reactive maintenance according to SFG-20 standards on the following but not limited to: AHU`S, FCU`S, boilers, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, lighting including emergency lighting, plumbing – ball valves, toilet systems, control valves, electrical – ballast, batteries, small projects work, L8 water hygiene tasks. * Work with clients to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and provide expert technical support. * Produce detailed reports and service records for clients. * Liaise with the contracts manager to schedule and manage service visits, ensuring minimal disruption to clients. * Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and stay up-to-date with industry standards and regulations. * Provide support for commissioning and installation of new systems as required. Required Skills/Qualifications: * Proven experience as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer in building services. * Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, diagnostics, and fault finding. * Relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent). * Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. * Ability to work independently, managing your time and workload effectively. * Full UK driving license (company van will be provided). * Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams. * Engineers will be required to join the out of hours on call rota - 1 in 6. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: * Previous experience in commercial or industrial M&E maintenance. * Electrical or Mechanical / Plumbing qualifications. * Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems). * Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices in building services. * Strong client-facing skills with a focus on customer satisfaction. Experience Level: * Mid-level to Senior. Candidates should have several years of relevant experience in M&E maintenance and be capable of working independently.
