Construction Manager – M&E Contractor
London– Site-Based | £60,000 – £75,000 | Permanent, Full-Time
We’re working with a well-established and expanding M&E contractor seeking a Construction Manager to lead the successful on-site delivery of large commercial projects. With a strong pipeline of upcoming work, they’re looking for a capable site leader with experience managing complex M&E installations on schemes typically valued between £5m and £10m+.
This is a permanent position for a Construction Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, technically driven environment and takes full ownership of site-based operations from mobilisation to commissioning.

Role Summary
You will lead the on-site management of mechanical and electrical installation works on major commercial construction projects. The role requires daily coordination with internal teams, subcontractors, and principal contractors, ensuring that safety, quality, programme, and cost targets are consistently achieved.
You’ll report directly to a Project Manager and be responsible for site safety, labour and subcontractor performance, and the overall success of the project delivery.
Responsibilities
Health & Safety
* Enforce site safety policies and ensure all works comply with risk assessments and method statements
* Deliver toolbox talks, manage weekly site records and inductions
* Ensure plant, tools, and equipment are maintained and used safely
Programme Delivery
* Drive site progress to meet programme milestones
* Communicate effectively with the Principal Contractor, consultants, and trades
* Monitor site activity and update progress reports and drawings
Team & Operations
* Lead site teams including supervisors, operatives, and subcontractors
* Ensure quality installations from first fix through to handover
* Maintain site cleanliness and organisation for optimal workflow
* Keep accurate daily records and issue safety or productivity commendations
Cost & Procurement
* Monitor labour productivity and ensure alignment with project budgets
* Coordinate timely material orders and minimise waste
* Prevent abortive or non-compliant works through clear planning and oversight
Quality & Handover
* Set benchmarks and enforce installation standards
* Manage snagging, testing, commissioning, and record drawings
* Coordinate sign-off of testing paperwork and oversee client handover packages
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:
* Proven experience as a Construction Manager delivering M&E installations on large-scale commercial projects (£5–10m+)
* Mechanical or Electrical background (or both) with strong technical knowledge
* Experience managing subcontractors and site teams in a multi-disciplinary environment
* Strong understanding of project programmes, construction sequencing, and technical drawings
* Excellent communication and site coordination skills
* Valid SMSTS, CSCS (Black or White card), and First Aid certification
* Full UK driving licence
