Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer (Fabricator) to join our team in Coventry. The ideal candidate will be responsible designing, modifying, maintaining mechanical equipment on site, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality standards. Client Details This opportunity is with a well-established organisation within the food manufacturing industry, known for its commitment to excellence in engineering and manufacturing. The company operates as a medium-sized entity with a focus on delivering quality products and services. Description Conduct repairs and improvements to ensure equipment reliability, minimize breakdowns, and extend the lifespan of critical assets. A key focus of the role is ensuring that all fabricated and welded components meet food industry standards. The position will carry out in house repairs and provide rapid response to equipment breakdowns requiring welding, fabrication or machining The main objective of this role is to reduce reliance on external contractors by bringing more repairs and fabrication in house, while improving response times to breakdowns. The engineer will be expected to create CAD drawings for reference and future use and to machine parts which can be put into stock Monitor and Maintain Standards: Regularly monitor the performance of equipment and address any deviations from required standards to prevent quality issues in production. Oversee and maintain various systems, including tortilla lines, chips lines, packaging equipment, silos, pumps, mixers, and electrical components. Ensure these systems operate efficiently to support production targets. Conduct Regular Inspections: Perform routine checks and diagnostics to identify potential issues early on, preventing equipment failures and minimizing production downtime. Respond to work assignments issued by the Maintenance Manager or Shift Lead, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of all maintenance activities. Maximize Shift Effectiveness: Organize tasks to optimize productivity and reduce delays, ensuring the maintenance team operates effectively throughout the shift.Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:00 Profile A successful Mechanical Engineer/Fabricator should have: Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or fabrication/time served. Experience working within the engineering and manufacturing sector. Strong technical skills and the ability to use a range of tools and equipment. Can use CAD software A proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting. Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to machinery and equipment. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.Job Offer £47,800/annum Permanent position based in Coventry.
